Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity at University of Texas in Austin Gets Beautiful Stained Glass Windows

Recently, Stained Glass Austin had the opportunity to work with the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity on a project that involved making some modifications to their fraternity house located on the University of Texas campus in Austin. The goal of this project was to bring some historical ambience to the fraternity house so we designed and created three stained glass panels to adorn its windows.

About the Phi Kappa Psi Stained Glass

The stained glass was to have a University of Texas theme and pay tribute to the school’s long standing history of outstanding academic achievement. One window features a hand painted image on the main building at the center of the University of Texas Austin campus.

Another window is meant to be a symbol of the fraternity’s state pride and is embellished with a beautiful painting of the Texas flag.

These two panels are accompanied by a third panel that exhibits a portrait of a steer which represents the school’s mascot.

Working with the fraternity on this project for us was such a joy. It was also a valuable reminder of the importance that art has in connecting people to history and culture. The fraternity’s stained glass art serves the purpose of not only adding elegance and beauty to the building’s architecture, but also ties together the generations of the past and the present. And because stained glass can last for hundreds of years, it’s likely that many future students will be able to look upon and enjoy them too.

This ability to bring communities together and preserve history are ideals that drive a lot of our work at Stained Glass Austin. In the past, we’ve partnered with many business owners, churches, and other institutions in Texas on their architectural renovations. By adding something as striking as stained glass to their building, organized groups are able to stand out and establish their identity within the community.
