Religious Stained Glass Austin
Stained Glass will always be associated with Churches and Religious windows. From as early as the 16th Century stained glass has been made to decorate the windows of cathedrals and churches around the world. A church just never seems to be complete without some stained glass artwork for the congregation to enjoy.
At Scottish Stained Glass we have installed hundreds of religious stained glass windows over the past 20 years. Every Church is different and the windows designed by Scottish Stained Glass will reflect the beliefs of the individual church and it`s congregation. In Austin we have more churches per head of population than in most cities. Did you know for example that 65% of our population is affiliated to a church as opposed to the national average of 50%.
Churches normally use bright colors of glass in the design of the windows but we have had several churches over the years that used clear beveled pieces without color. In fact when we designed the glass for the Archbishop`s private chapel he decided to go with all clear glass and cut glass pieces. When the light hits the bevels rainbows of natural color are refracted into the chapel.
Church stained glass when installed in the Sanctuary provides privacy for the congregation and also helps diffuse sunlight entering the church, especially on the east side of the church during morning services.
In new construction situations the Church may need to raise funds to pay for the installation of stained glass. Scottish Stained Glass has helped churches to raise money for stained glass and can give advice on fundraising activities. During one successful campaign a few years ago we helped a church organize a fundraising dinner and raised enough money for 100 windows in just 45 minutes!
Scottish Stained Glass will also restore existing church glass. See our repairs and restoration section.
Our computer aided design method allows you to see your church windows with all the colors added before we even start making them. Call us now for free advice and ideas.
