Religious Stained Glass for Austin Churches

For people of faith, being able to go to a church or temple is an intrinsic part of worship. Churches are places where members of the community are brought together. They are safe havens where relationships are formed and trust is built. Even though some have been around for over 1,000 years, churches, temples, mosques, and synagogues continue even today to play an important role in the everyday lives of people who seek religious guidance within their walls.

Because Austin has such a large immigrant population, it is full of religious diversity. A wide range of religious sites can be found throughout the city. Many of these sites contain some of the most beautiful examples of religious art and religious stained glass in Austin.

Religious Stained Glass in Austin Created by the Experts at Scottish

Stained Glass Austin, the regional office of Scottish Stained Glass, is a proud provider of religious stained glass in the Austin community. We have worked closely with the members of many churches and temples in the area to create unique, fully customized stained glass windows, doors, transoms, sidelights, and custom glass for their buildings. Our artists enjoy designing glass pieces that are reflective of each church’s particular characteristics and values.

Our Most Recent Religious Stained Glass Project

Recently, the experts at Scottish were awarded the task of constructing the religious stained glass for the Fort Collins Colorado LDS Temple. This included manufacturing and installing all of the temple’s stained glass doors, windows, sidelights, and transoms. We were deeply honored to have been chosen for this opportunity and set out determined to make a flawless product, regardless of the difficulty of the task or the amount of time it would take.

It took a total of two years to complete the stained glass for the Fort Collins Colorado Temple. The first 6 months were spent on drafting designs and getting them approved. And after that, it took another 18 months to have the glass manufactured and completely installed. Ultimately, we ended up installing over 50,000 pieces of individual glass. This included about 300 complete stained glass pieces for the temple’s doors and windows.

Stained Glass Customized to Every Last Detail

In order to be absolutely perfect, the stained glass for the Temple had to be fully customized in every aspect. Though this meant that while the end product would be a stunning example of religious art, some challenges were ahead of us. For example, our windows were installed in custom frames that were built simultaneously by another general contractor. This meant that there was no opportunity to take additional site measurements. Therefore, we had to work closely with other companies through a streamlined process to ensure that everything was created to the correct specifications.

The colors of the stained glass were also of major importance as well. The members of the church searched tirelessly through over 10,000 colors of stained glass, but were unable to find exactly the right color of green to match their design plans. As a solution, we used an intense process to create a custom color of glass that met their exact desires. We also were able to construct custom colored glass bevels, a task that had been previously thought impossible. Our experts accomplished this by placing colored glass behind clear glass bevels in order to achieve the desired effect.

Privacy and protection were also high on the list of things to accomplish. Each window was fit with a piece of Low-E safety glass to create the ultimate level of protection and provide added insulation. In addition, it was also important for the windows to be able to provide privacy for the church without restricting the amount of light coming into the building. By using our expert glass-making skills and techniques, we were able to achieve the right effect.

Flawless Results Delivered On Time

After the installation of the stained glass was complete, we still had one more challenge before us. Our new stained glass had to pass several rounds of detailed inspections conducted by designers, architects, and members of the Church. Even after several rounds of inspection, not one single defect or flaw was identified in our stained glass. We were extremely pleased to see how all of our hard work and effort payed off in the end, and so was the Church for that matter.

Working with the Church on constructing the religious stained glass for their Temple was one of the most rewarding projects that we have completed to date. We are so happy with the relationships that we built and the results that we accomplished together as a team. The stained glass in the Fort Collins Colorado LDS Temple will now be able to serve as a captivating piece of art in the building for its entire lifetime.
